I have ample experience with all sorts of repairs on all bowed instruments and particularly the double bass as I am a double bass player myself. Setting up a double bass is a very particular job. All too often I come across instruments that are very hard to play or that don’t sound very good. For both beginner and the professional player a properly set up instrument is crucial. You’ll enjoy playing and progress more quickly. It is my mission to get the absolute best out of your instrument.

When faced with an instrument in need of repair there is usually more than one approach. This is why I always consult with the client and discuss all options first before we agree which approach to take. I also welcome and endorse the possibility of clients getting a second opinion before we settle on an agreement for a repair job.

My preference is usually to intervene as little as possible. That limits the costs and preserves the instrument’s original state.
