About me

My name is Sven Otte. I am originally from Germany and studied double bass at the conservatories of Essen and Cologne. During this period I played in many bands and ensembles. In 1998 I went to work for the Noord Nederlands Orkest and moved to Groningen. At this time, I started to adjust and set up my own instruments. My first self-built instrument was an electric double bass, followed by a cello. I have learned a lot from the famous double bass maker Jürgen Preyer, who still gives me good tips. In 2017 I decided to make it my profession to build and repairing instruments. I still continue to play double bass, mainly in chamber music and jazz.
