About me

My name is Sven Otte. I originally come from Germany and studied double bass at the conservatories of Essen and Cologne. I was already playing in many bands and ensembles at that time. In 1998, I started working for the Noord Nederlands Orkest and moved to Groningen. Additionally, I began adjusting my own instruments. My first self-built instrument was an electric double bass, followed by a cello. I learned a lot from the renowned double bass maker Jürgen Preyer, who still gives me great tips. In 2017, I decided to make building and repairing instruments my profession.

In 2018, I took over the rental practice for string instruments from Bert Boon. I strive to continue the business that Bert built with great passion and expertise as best I can. I also continue to play double bass, particularly in chamber music and jazz.
